Why do Individualized Spelling Tests?

As a student, I was always a terrible speller. Even though most people couldn't make out the majority of what I wrote, I never let that stop me from writing every night in my journal. I loved writing down my childhood memories about exploring through the wilderness with my crazy brothers, and my best friend through the infamous "Murphy Mountain." To this day, I will never forget my 8 year old self and the ups and downs of being a kid.

It wasn't until I went off to college and started using my computer for everything that I started to notice how bad my spelling really was. That little red squiggly line under every misspelled word haunted me! It would never leave me alone! At that point, I realized I had spelled words wrong for so long, that it would be extremely hard to unlearn my mistakes and reteach myself how to spell. From that moment on, I made it my personal mission to share my passion for writing, and help students care about learning how to spell. Not just on Friday for the test, but for every day.
