"If we can rise up from our suspicions and defensiveness, we will be able to share the similarities and celebrate our diversity. In this way, all of us will benefit."
This is my best friend Lanie, aka Mrs. Pack. She currently teaches 3rd/4th grade in a small Christian School in Okinawa, Japan. We both thought it would be a fabulous idea to start having our classes write to each other back and forth, getting to know each other and asking lots of questions so that we can learn more about each other's cultures. After a long week of tests, writing to our new Japanese friends was a great way to unwind. ;) Todays Writing Mini Lesson was geared towards Writing a friendly letter to my best friend who teaches 3rd grade in Japan. I mean, seriously. How lucky am I? Not to mention, how lucky is my class???? By the end of this school year, our class will have such fabulous writing skills that we will each write a letter to a pen pal in Mrs. Pack's class in Japan. We are all BEYOND excited, and we can't wait to get writing. :)
