My name is Gabriella Whitman and I moved from upstate New York to Raleigh North Carolina to pursue my dream of teaching. I graduated in 2011 with a degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Oneonta but I have been working with children in Day Care Centers, Pre-Schools, Summer Camps, and After School Programs since 2006.
Before moving to NC, I had worked for the Southern Saratoga YMCA as a Pre-K teacher, as well as the on-site Director for the Y-Time after school program, which provided engaging enrichment activities for students grades 1-5. Over the past few years, I have taught in many different classrooms, and lots of different Elementary Schools working my way all the way through Kindergarten to 5th grade.
After many years of traveling, I have finally settled into a place that I call home here at Lake Myra Elementary and I am truly blessed to be where I am today.

My Little Family
Brooklyn BunFebruary 2015
While we've been gone from school, I have been very busy preparing for a brand new baby in my family. After many long snowy days, I could not wait to make a trip to the Wake County SPCA to bring her home. I am so happy to finally be able to introduce you all to my sweet baby girl, Brooklyn. She is only 9 weeks old but already I can tell she is loyal, intelligent, and super snuggly. Although we can not be 100% certain of her breed, we were told that she is a brindle plot hound mix. You also may notice that she has one blue colored eye and one brown colored eye, which is just one more thing that makes her extra special and unique. Stay tuned for more updates and posts about her new life and many of her fun adventures. |
Costa Rica
Summer- 2012
Last summer I spent four weeks in Costa Rica doing Volunteer work with an organization called International Student Volunteers. For the first two weeks I worked in an Environmental Arts Education Program where we made art work out of recycled materials and spread awareness to children in the local communities and schools.
During the second two weeks, I got to tour the country with a group of amazing people and we got to spend every day in a different city doing a crazy, adventurous activity. By far, one of the best adventures I have ever gone one. Can't wait to pack my bags and travel again. Maybe next summer will be time for South Africa. :)
